Sweetwater has topped off the expansion of its Fort Wayne distribution center, placing the final structural steel beam on a new addition of roughly 170,000 square feet.
The addition grows the company's existing distribution facility, which covers 524,363 square feet. The project is part of a $36.7 million investment that also includes changes to the campus tied to US 30 and other improvements.
Before the beam was raised, Sweetwater employees, Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker, and other local officials signed it — a construction tradition honoring the people behind the project. Among the last to sign were six of the distribution center's longest-tenured hourly employees, who together represent more than 115 years with the company: Greg Bowers, Geraldo Lopez, Danny Vachon, Bill Markey, Kyle Wheeler, and Mary MacDonald.
Jeff Ostermann, Sweetwater's chief people and culture officer, emceed the ceremony and thanked the city of Fort Wayne for supporting the company's growth in Northeast Indiana.
Work on the campus enhancements is expected to be completed in the summer of 2027.
